Belt conveyors are constructions with continuous transport. They facilitate the transportation of grain material along a horizontal and inclined path. A variety of ways in which they can be used make the application of these conveyors very extensive: simple construction, high capacity, great transportation distance, quiet and smooth operation.
A track conveyor belt consists of two terminal cylinders (drums) over which a continuous belt runs.
–The drive cylinder is a drum motor-reductor which is selected on the basis of the necessary power and speed of transport. It is located in the power station made out of a profile which is connected to the framework of construction.
–The tension cylinder is located in the tension station. For the belt to run as it should the cylinders are just slightly convex. The width of the cylinder is 100-200 mm wider than the width of the belt.
In these transporters, we employ the mechanical tension system. The necessary tension force is obtained by manual turning of the spindles which push or pull the cylinder axle.
The belt is made of several layers of textile fibers held together with vulcanized rubber. On the surface, on both sides, the belt is covered with a layer of rubber which protect the inside layers.
-A set of rollers which comprise one leaning (support) unit (a trio roller) is located in special holders which are, in turn, fastened to the main framework which is made of profiles.
-Placing the material (to be transported) on the conveyor belt is possible along the whole length of the belt and is carried out through the necessary number of automatic loading boxes with aspiration attachments.

The calculation of the capacity of the Belt conveyor is obtained with the formula:
Q = 3600 x A x V x p (t/h)
A – surface of cross-section of transported layer of the grain (m²)
p -volume mass of grain (t/m³)
The calculation of the drive force:
N0 = k ( C x L x V + 0.00015 Q x Lk + (Q x H/367)) (KW)
L=15 m | k=1,25 |
L=16-30 m | k=1,1 |
L=30-45 m | k=1,05 |
L=45 m | k=1 |
C – coefficient of the belt width | 400 | 500 | 650 | 850 |
Coefficient C | 0,015 | 0,018 | 0,023 | 0,028 |
L = total length track conveyor
V = speed of transport (m/s)
Q = capacity (t/h)
H = height of raising or lowering during transport
The power of the main drive:
N = N0/0,85 x 1,15 (KW)
